Community Infrastructure Levy Viability

As a charging authority, you need to satisfy an independent examiner that your CIL rates won’t jeopardise the economic viability of development in your area. Our economic viability studies will give both you the robust evidence you need for the CIL Examination, and a sound economic basis for setting your CIL rates.

We can advise you throughout the process, from gathering evidence ahead of the Preliminary Draft Charging Schedule stage through to Examination in Public. This may well include assistance with briefing others including Members, written representations, updating work and other bespoke support.

As one of the UK’s leading consultancies in this highly specialist field, we’ve carried out more than 20 CIL Viability Assessments. To date, all our clients that have progressed to Examination stage have seen their CIL Charging Schedules successfully supported.

You may also be in a position of wanting to refresh an adopted Charging Schedule if, like some of our previous clients, your Authority was an early adopter of CIL or perhaps had to stall on CIL whilst a Local Plan was further progressed. We are now undertaking feasibility reviews and updates.
